TECHNICAL HELP FILE

It is our displeasure to send you here...

We have created this page as a last resort help. Things have become more difficult with Microsoft's introduction to Vista and Win 7 and we are now having issues that we did not have a few years ago.
Supremweb has done everything in the software design to ensure to shield our customers from the complexity of programming. Unfortunately we have no control of what error there might be on our client's computers, and this help file has been made up as a last resort, so that you can avoid having to contact us. This help pages have been designed, not to explain how to use our software, but if there are issues that cannot be resolved, especially database and crystal report issues.

1) First of all let me explain to you, that if you run our software on Trial, all functions must work. There is no limitation on trial! If somthing does not work, it has nothing to do with Trial Period.
2) If you can turn our software on, always go to tax year 2006 first. This tax year is a demonstration/test tax year. So always select Tool > Select Tax Year and then select Year 2006.
3) Windows Vista and Seven has given us additional issues, with their security settings. Always run our software "as Administrator". For more information in regard to Vista and Win 7 issues click here.


This help document has been created so that it does not require a high level skill, so if you are having problems, and if you still find this help pages difficult to follow, somebody you know may be able to read it and follow its instructions.

The Taxi Accountant for Drivers uses a foreign component named Crystal Report. The Taxi Fleet Manager uses it as well plus it also uses another foreign component named Microsoft SQL2005 EXPRESS database (a very professional and powerful database engine). Often the issues may be that our clients have failed installation procedures and these components where not installed, or configured correctly during installation.

We hope that this page will help you if all has failed.

Our software installer does not only come with the Taxi Software, but also with the support software, which is free, but requiring licensing. You will be prompted to:
If you install the Taxi Accountant
1) The Taxi Accountant Software.
2) The Crystal Report.

If you install the Taxi Fleet Manager
1) The Taxi Fleet Manager Software.
2) The Crystal Report.
3) The Microsoft SQL 2005 EXPRESS database.
You will find that if something has gone wrong, in most cases it will be one of the third party software.

How do I know if my crystal report works?
1) Open your software (Taxi Accountant or Fleet Manager).
2) Select Tax Year 2006 (Test year)
3) Click on the Printer icon on any of the pages that show something and you should see a printed version.

How do I know if my Microsoft SQL2005 EXPRESS works?
1) Open your software (Fleet Manager).
2) Select Tax Year 2006 (Test year)
3) Select the Cars Page, if you can see the cars, it works.

Hint: If you can basically open the software and view its main page, the Taxi Fleet Manager and Taxi Accountant have been installed correctly and it indicates that the issue is with the other third party software, either the Microsoft SQL 2005 EXPRESS or the Crystal Report Installation.


Crystal Report Issues - unable to view and print reports (for the Taxi Fleet Manager and the Taxi Accountant.)
If you can open and run our software, but not view and print any reports, you may not have installed the Crystal Report on your computer.
How do I do that?
Open up Window Explorer (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer).
Navigate to C:\Program Files\Supremweb\prequisites\TAC\CrystalReports\ or C:\Program Files\Supremweb\TFM\prequisites\CrystalReports\ and you should find a file named CRRedist2005_x86.msi or "CRRedist2005_X64.msi", depending on if you have a 32 or 64 bit computer.
Double Click it and follow the installation procedure.
What if I cannot find this file?

save it onto your computer and double click it to install.


Data base Issues (for the Taxi Fleet Manager only.)
How do you know that the problem is with your database engine? This is what you do:
1) Start your Taxi Fleet Manager Software. If you cannot even start it, forget this particular topics, the problem is not here.
2) On the Main Menu, Click "Activity" > "Change Tax Year". A little Window will pop up.
3) Click the "Set Test Year Button". And then close this little Window. At the bottom it should say "The tax year of this application is set to 2006". You are now in the Demo Database.
4) On the left top, click the "Owners" Icon Button. You should now see a number of Owners displayed in a number of rows inside a Data Grid. If you get an error message instead, your database driver is either missing or not working properly.
What we need to do now is, to find out if the database engine has simply not been installed, or is configured wrong. You may have missed the installation completely, or it may be configured wrong.
If you have Windows XP Do following: Click or (double click if necessary) Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
If you have Windows Vista or 7 do following:
Click the Start Icon on the bottom left and you see a little Text box coming up at the bottom. Type into it "Services". On top of this little pop up Window you will see a little icon appearing, saying "Services". Click on it.
And now for all three operating systems: A new Window pops up for Services and see if you can find a row that says "SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)". If this row is there, the database engine has been installed.

What do I do if I cannot even see a row saying "SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)"?
It means that you missed the database installation. You will need to install it. We need to find the installer file first on your computer. Click the link below for more information:

What if I cannot find the installer file on my computer?
Get if from our web site:
If your operating system is 32 Bits:
Download Database Installer for 32 bit
If your operating system is 64 Bits:
Download Database Installer for 64 bit
Save it onto your computer and then double click and run it.

What you can try to do, if certain error messages during the SQL 2005 EXPRESS database installation (for the Taxi Fleet Manager only) come up
Note: If during the installation of the Microsoft SQL 2005 EXPRESS a little error comes up mentioning something about "IIS", ignore this error - it is OK.
If the error message contains something like:
"...sqlncli_x64.msi..." or
"...sqlncli_x86.msi..." or
"SQL Native Client..."
Do following:
1) Go into that part of your computer, where you can view and uninstall Programs.
2) Uninstall the Microsoft SQL Server Native Client.
3) Then try the Microsoft SQL 2005 EXPRESS database installation again. This will also install a new copy of the SQL Server Native Client.

What you can try to do if following error comes up during SQL 2005 installation:
The SQL server configuration cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on the machine DCNCSM 15 Error:2147749896 (0x80041008)
Click here to download this WMIFIX.bat dos file and run it on your computer.
3) Then try the Microsoft SQL 2005 EXPRESS database installation again. Let us know if it fixed this problem as we have never seen it before.

How do I try to re-install the Microsoft SQL 2005 EXPRESS database?
1) Open your Windows Explorer.
2) Navigate to C:/Program Files/Supremweb/TFM/SQLExpressInstaller/sqlexpr32.exe(or sqlexpr64.exe, which ever you find in there.)
3) Double Click to start the installation. Make sure you install it in "Mixed Mode" (you will be asked in the due course).
What if I cannot find this installer file? If your operating system is 32 Bits:
Download Database Installer for 32 bit
If your operating system is 64 Bits:
Download Database Installer for 64 bit
Save it onto your computer and then double click and run it.

How do I know if my computer is 32 bit or 64 bit?
One way is to look into the C:/Program Files/Supremweb/TFM directory with your windows explorer and see if you have a file named "32bitInstallation.txt" or "64bitInstallation.txt". The front number of this text file will tell you that. You can also open this text file and read it if you like, it is very short and to the point.

If after downloading and installation of the SQL 2005 database engine, it still does not work, maybe you need the service-pack two of the SQL 2005 database engine.
Download and then double click the downloaded file for 32 bit operating system: Service Pack 2 SQL 2005 32 Bits
Download and then double click the downloaded file for 64 bit operating system: Service Pack 2 SQL 2005 64 Bits
You will find that the Service Pack two is particularly required with Windows Vista and Seven.
